As we move forward with anticipation and thanksgiving during this year of preparation, it is our pleasure to celebrate Sis. Joy Rose. At Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, we have been taught that JOY means “Jesus first, Others next, and Yourself last.” Sis. Joy Rose is a beautiful example of what it means to live out and embrace the true meaning of JOY.

A graduate of Lamar University with a Batchelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and a licensed member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), Sis Joy has worked at JP Morgan Chase Bank for the past 41 years. She began her career as a secretary in the Commercial Bank and currently serves as Vice President and Client Data Manager in Asset & Wealth Management Operations. She is also a member of the Galveston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the South Belt Houston Chapter of Jack and Jill Incorporated, and A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI).

Reflecting on her professional journey, Sis. Joy shares: “My career growth has been guided primarily by prayer, trusting in the Lord and not leaning on my own understanding, followed by, hard work, mentorship, sponsorship and building networks and relationships.”

Sis. Joy is the wife of Deacon Daryle Rose and the mother of Sis. Dallas Whitney Osborne and Sis. Charity Rose. She is the mother-in-law of Bro. Rodney Osborne and the proud grandmother of Chance and Austin. She is also the daughter of Sis. Vander Haynes and the late Bro. George Haynes ,and the sister of Kevin, Otis and the late George Jr. Haynes.

In her own words: “Family is extremely important to me and remains one of my greatest blessings. I deeply love my husband and daughters, and my grandchildren bring immeasurable joy to my life. My mother is 100 years old, and she instilled in me the importance of having a relationship with God, trusting Him always and treating others with respect and kindness. She is a true example of Christian faith in action”.

Sis. Joy continues, “I am especially thankful to God for giving me the strength, endurance, and compassion to care for my husband and my mother. There are moments when my endurance is tested, but I draw on the messages I have learned through my pastors, prayer, and faith to help me press through with love and grace. I consider caregiving not only a responsibility, but also a privilege and an expression of love, faith, and gratitude.”

The Church has always been a cornerstone of Sis. Joy’s life. She is deeply grateful for both of her pastors—the late Dr. Charles L. Jackson and our current Pastor, Dr. Sheldon L. Jackson—for faithfully teaching and delivering the uncompromising Word of God. Their messages have been a lasting source of wisdom, strength, and guidance in her life. Among the many life-changing lessons she has learned are:

• If you are going to pray, don’t worry.
• There are some things we should not put in our bodies, some things
  we should not put on our bodies, and some places we should not
  take our bodies.
• Every time God blesses us, he stands the risk of losing us.
• Any decision made without the Holy Spirit is a wrong decision.
• The most powerful tool a Christian has is prayer; it will make our
  enemies tremble.
• We are going to thrive and not just survive.
• We don’t quit.

Throughout her spiritual journey, Sis. Joy has found great comfort in Psalms 37:1, “Fret not thyself because of evil doers; neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.”

Sis. Joy has faithfully served Pleasant Grove MBC alongside Deacon Daryle for 41 years. She currently serves as Second Vice-President of Mission I, a Matron of the Little Folks Choir, a member of the Mass Choir and a member of the Deaconess and Minister’s Wives auxiliary. She also lends her time ,talents and resources to numerous church projects.
In her leisure time Sis. Joy enjoys travelling, participating in sorority activities, going to the movies, and binge-watching Netflix.

Let’s continue to pray for Sis. Joy Rose as she faithfully exemplifies the love and generosity of God through her compassionate caregiving, generous spirit and steadfast commitment to serving both family and her church.
