This month, we celebrate a quiet, hard-working giant—Trustee, President of the Usher Board and Deacon – Bro. Douglas Lindley.

Deacon Lindley can always be found at the front of the church every Sunday, warmly welcoming everyone with a smile. He was introduced to Pleasant Grove by his wife, Sis. Charmaine Lindley, and together they have worshiped, participated in, and faithfully supported the church for 31 years.

Upon joining Pleasant Grove, the late Pastor Dr. C.L. Jackson appointed him as an usher. Over the years, his dedication and servants heart have led him to serve as President of the Usher Board for the past 15 years. In addition to his leadership of the Usher Board, Deacon Lindley is also a member of the Deacon Board and was appointed as a Trustee by our current pastor, Dr. S.L. Jackson.

His life of service began in the United States Army, where he served for eight years. During his military career, he was stationed in Korea and Germany and enjoyed the opportunity to experience different cultures. He earned the rank of E-5 Sergeant before completing his service.

Following his military career, Deacon Lindley joined the United States Postal Service, where he served as a letter carrier for 41 years until his retirement. Reflecting on his career, he shares, “It was a rewarding career of service to the public and allowed me to meet and greet people in their everyday lives and businesses.”

When speaking about his faith, Deacon Lindley says:
“My spiritual life is a life of gratefulness and thankfulness. Under the tutelage of our late Pastor, Dr. C.L. Jackson, and our current Pastor, Dr. S.L. Jackson, I have been given a solid foundation in God’s Word. Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, is the rock of my foundation. He is the Blesser and the Blessing.

My favorite passage of scripture is Habakkuk 2:2. It reminds me that there is a road map for my life in God’s word and miracles abound when we obey. I get joy being an usher. I consider it an honor and privilege to serve God’s people, and together we bathe in the presence of the Almighty”.

Deacon Lindley is a devoted family man—the loving husband of Sis. Charmaine Lindley and proud father of Stephanie, Douglas Jr., Elloria, Spencer, and Kalyn. He is also the proud grandfather of Treyvonn Jr. Alexandria, Dreyton, Allah, Emeri, Teanna, Douglas Jr. and the son-in-law of Sis. Ever Ross. In his leisure time, he enjoys classic pickup trucks.

Let us continue to pray for Deacon Lindley as he exemplifies a life of faithful service, humility, and dedication to both God’s people and the house of the Lord. His commitment and steadfast example continue to be a blessing to the Pleasant Grove family.
