Member of the Month of March Sis. Sher’Mininka Strong
Our member of the month for March 2025 is Sis. Sher’Mininka Strong.
A dynamic, hard-working, intelligent and Godly woman who has been blessed to achieve spiritual and professional success.
Sis. Strong began her Christian journey at a young age under the tutelage of the late Pastor, Dr. C.L. Jackson. She has been involved in various ministries at Pleasant Grove throughout her life. Starting in the Youth and Young Adult choir, Sunday School and Drill Team. She continues to serve under Pastor, Dr. S. L. Jackson and is currently a member of the TV Ministry led by First Lady, Sis. Gloria Jackson.
Sis. Sher’Mininka and her family can all be seen worshipping together on Sundays: her mother, Sis. Emma Daugherty; her brother, Associate Pastor, Sheldon Strong; her nephew, Christian Strong; and her uncle, Deacon James Robison. She credits her late aunt, Sis. Catherine Robinson for teaching her the importance of being attentive in church and passing on that knowledge to others. She is guided by the assurance that, “If you put your trust in the Lord, he will never fail you.”
Sis. Sher’Mininka graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Prairie View A&M University with a concentration in Human Resources. She is currently a Sr. Human Resources Client Manager for a company that specializes in providing cloud-based human capital technology and services to the world’s largest organizations.
As a woman of color, Sis. Strong constantly deals with adversity on the job. In those moments, she leans on her faith and the teachings she has received at Pleasant Grove. She is reminded that it says in Phil. 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” She also says, “One of the many lessons taught by Pastor Sheldon, that resonate with me, is the importance of watching our tongue. The Holy Spirit through Pastor Sheldon reminds me about the power of the tongue described in Ephesians 4:29 and instructs me to pray and put everything in God’s hand.”
Giving back to the community is a priority for Sis. Strong. She volunteers at the Houston and Montgomery County Food Bank, Houston National Cemetery-Wreaths across America and various Youth initiatives. Her directive is l Peter 4:10, “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” Sis. Strong says, “God has blessed me tremendously and I will continue to serve and spread His Word.”
In addition to volunteering, Sis. Strong is a member of the Women’s Professional Network and is continually driving change within the organization. All her actions are centered in the Word of God and done in humility and love.
Let’s show Sis. Strong some love and support in the comments below and keep her lifted up in our prayers.
