OBITUARY

Sis. Naomi T. Bellard was born on August 29, 1929, in Hosston, Louisiana, to Mr. Ernest
Thomas and Mrs. Martha Thomas. At the age of 10, Sis. Bellard was baptized in the Red River
in Hosston, Louisiana, by the late Pastor Ernest Kelly.
Her educational background includes Charlton Pollard High School, obtaining her GED, and
Del Mar College. She earned her Nursing Assistant Certificate after working in various
healthcare roles for more than 40 years.
During this time, Sis. Bellard met Bro. Wedness Bellard, and they had four beautiful
children. Anthony, Cynthia, Joselyn, and Wedness Ann Bellard, they were married for 24 years.
Having moved to Houston, Texas in 1976, Sis. Bellard joined Pleasant Grove Missionary
Baptist Church where she served under the leadership of the late Dr. Charles L. Jackson.
As a result of her relocation to Beaumont in 1990, Sis. Bellard became part of Pleasant Green
Missionary Baptist Church, where she served under the leadership of late Pastor James C.
Franklin, Sr. and then Pastor Carl Fontenot, Sr. She worked in the church for 29 years, focusing
on youth ministry.
Her memory is that of a beautiful Christian woman, a member of the church, a teacher, and a
mentor who loved educating youth on black history, scriptures, and Bible stories. She always
showed compassion and kindness to everyone.
In 2020, Sis. Bellard moved to Houston, Texas, to live with her daughter, Wedness Ann. She
reconvened her membership at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under Senior Pastor
Dr. Sheldon L. Jackson. She never stopped asking how she might assist with the youth
department.
It was her pleasure to share stories and Black history with her grandchildren and other
youth during her 94 years of life. Sis. Bellard loved to travel even if it was just to Seabrook,
Texas to feed the birds. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan who collected memorabilia.
Christmastime was her favorite time of the year. Sis. Bellard was a daughter, wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a friend we will never forget.
Sis. Bellard, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving
daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Earnest and Mrs. Martha Thomas, and
bonus father, Mr. Harry Jackson, daughter, Sis. Cynthia Bellard Robinson; sisters, Sis. Atra

TRIBUTE TO OUR MOM

Thank you, Mom, for raising and guiding me to know and accept JESUS as my personal
SAVIOR. It was so important for you during these last days to continue witnessing to your
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren about JESUIS and wanting your family saved.
I’m honored and blessed to have served you for four and a half years. I created so many
memories to draw from. But my greatest will be going to church and worshiping together with
you. I loved our trips to Sea Brook, Texas, to sit by the water and feed the birds, going to Buc-
ee’s and people-watching while we shared a chopped beef sandwich and root beer, taking you to
Beaumont to see your classmates, and our trips to San Antonio, Texas to visit the River Walk.
Deuteronomy 4:9, “Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the
things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to
your children and their children and their children after them.”

Your Loving Daughter,
Wedness Ann Bellard

******************

Losing my mom was so hard to believe. She was a great mom, always urging me to be the best I could be and
love the LORD.
I grew into a man during my teenage years, which helped the learning process as I got older.
I appreciate you, Mom, as I will love you forever.
Love You Mom so much,
Your son,
Anthony Quinn Bellard, Sr.

TRIBUTE TO OUR GRANDMOTHER

Grandmother, you were the cornerstone of our family, a source of unconditional
love and wisdom. Your life was a testament to hard work and dedication.
Grandmother, you raised four children, five grandchildren, and five great-
grandchildren, instilling in us the values of honesty, integrity, and kindness. Our
Grandmother showed us, how to be an active member of the community and a
faithful worker in the church. Her legacy of compassion and generosity lives on in
all of us.
Let us remember, that Grandmother is not with tears of sorrow, but with smiles of
gratitude for the times, we had with her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit
will be forever in our hearts.
Your loving Grand and Great-Grandchildren,
John, Anthony, Lynn, Rozmond, Wedness Ann, Mia, Nyla, Laila, Lynn, and Layla
