Member of the Month of November Associate Pastor, Rev. Sheldon Strong

In this month of Thanksgiving, we celebrate Associate Pastor, Rev. Sheldon Strong as our Member of the Month. One of the next generation of preachers and teachers at Pleasant Grove.
Rev. Strong grew up at Pleasant Grove and has been tutored and mentored by the late Pastor, Dr. C .L. Jackson and our current Pastor, Dr. S. L. Jackson, who assigned him to the position of Associate Pastor. He assists the youth and young adults in their daily walk and maturation as they travel this Christian journey with all its challenges. He has also preached to the entire congregation on several occasions. We have been blessed by his teaching and preaching.
His spiritual journey began from childhood as a member of the Drill Team, the Little Folks Choir, the Young Adult Choir, and the Sunday School Department. His aunt, the late Sis. Catherine Robinson played a major part in his development. Also, his mom, Sis. Emma Daugherty and sister, Sis. Sher’Mininka Strong. Rev. Strong is the proud husband of Sis. Chenese Strong, father of Devin, Kavon, Jonas, and Christian. We see his Christianity in action as we observe the development of Chris from a baby to a teenager now singing in the Youth Choir.
Rev. Strong graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and now works in the Revenue Cycle Management Industry as an Operations Manager. He is responsible for managing three separate health systems in California, Illinois, and Colorado.
Outside of work and church, Rev. Strong volunteers as a youth football and baseball coach. He also finds time to indulge in watching sports activities, attending plays, and studying astronomy.
He says, “My mission is to serve God and to do as He wishes in and through my life. My favorite scripture is II Corinthians 12:10. It is a daily reminder to myself that I’m strongest when I let go and let God.”
Let’s continue to pray for Associate Pastor, Rev. Sheldon Strong as he works to shape minds and hearts, and to make a difference in the world. Show him some love in the comments below and thank God for men who will set a Godly example to the next generation.
