As we move forward during this year of preparation, we continue to spotlight our associated pastors, auxiliary heads and those who have leadership positions at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
This month it is our pleasure to highlight the life of Associate Pastor, Lewis Winkley. The husband of Sis. Dwalla Winkley for 35 years, the father of Krysta and Kassidy and the grandfather of Cidney. The Winkleys have been faithful members of Pleasant Grove under the leadership of our late Pastor, Dr. C. L. Jackson and our current Pastor, Dr. S. L. Jackson.
Rev. Winkley served as Superintendent of the Sunday School along with the late Rev. Craig Miller for many years. He was recently elevated to Associate Pastor and assigned as Pastor of the Sunday School department.
Rev. Winkley can be heard on radio station KYOK giving a snapshot of the Sunday School lesson. He is also a student teacher at St. Louis Theological Seminary. Not only does he preach the Word, but he practices the Word as a volunteer at the Salvation Army. He ministers to the homeless and displaced among us.
One of his favorite scripture verses is Philippians 2:4, “Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” Rev. Winkley says, “The scripture instructs believers to move beyond selfishness by actively caring for the needs and interests of others, not just their own. It is part of a call to humility and unity, echoing Christ’s servant-hearted example.”
Rev. Winkley enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching movies, listening to music, studying God’s Word, and he loves being a part of the worship and fellowship at Pleasant Grove.
Let’s continue to pray for Associate Pastor Lewis Winkley that God will pour his Word down in his heart and use him in a special way as he seeks to minister by radio, reach the homeless and edify those of us at Pleasant Grove.
